History: Native to mountainous areas in southern Europe, Golden Chain has spread to other parts of Europe as an ornamental tree. The wood has historically been used to make furniture and instruments.
Why We Grow It: This lovely ornamental tree produces an abundance of 10-12in long racemes or chains of golden flowers, hence its name. Golden Chain is also a nitrogen-fixing plant, making it a great companion for other plants in your garden. Although beautiful, every part of this tree is poisonous and should not be consumed.
