Pruning

Pruning can be an intimidating job, and it is best learned by physically doing it, observing the reaction from the tree, and developing your skills over years - particularly in a mixed cultivar orchard. Over time you will begin to see how different varieties and species react to different cuts based on the trees vigour, rootstock, and growth habits.

Thankfully there are many resources to help get us on the right path from the get go. However, in our experience, while it's very helpful to read a few books, actually going out, pruning, and seeing the results over time is the best way it develop your intuition on which cuts are the right ones to make.
