Potted Vandalay™ Sweet Cherry
Available only for pick-up at nursery.
History: Vandalay™ was created by Dr. Ghassem Tehrani as a cross between Van and Stella sweet cherries at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre and released in 1969. Its sister, Tehranivee, was created from the same breeding program with the same parentage and released at the same time. It maintains the Vineland naming convention of having a 'v' in the name and was named after one of Dr. Tehrani's colleagues.
Why We Grow It: Vandalay™ is an incredibly productive varieties that produces large quantities of deep red cherries that are firm and have an excellent flavour. The fruit is also quite resistant to cracking, although some thinning is required if you want the cherries to size up nicely.
