History: A chance seedling discovered in the 1980s in BC, this tender, aromatic, honeyed apple has been a hit ever since!
Why We Grow It: This delicious apple is very popular in the fresh eating market in Canada, thanks to its attractive bi-colour skin and slow browning qualities. It produces a medium-large fruit and is a good cropper.
Canadian Hardiness Zone: 4
Soil Preference: Sandy loam, loam, clay loam. Prefers average to moist conditions, avoid planting anywhere that floods for more than two weeks in the spring. Generally quite adaptable to different soil conditions.
Growth Habits and Disease Resistance: Semi-spur bearing, upright growth habit, moderate vigour, low precocity. Not particularly disease resistant.
Sun/Shade: Full sun (approx. 8-10 hours of sun daily)
Pollination: Requires a pollinator of a different apple variety that blooms around the same time
Flowering Time: Middle
Bloom Colour: White
Ripens: Late October
Storage: Keeps until March when stored in cool humid conditions
Recommended Use: fresh eating, baking
