Compact Van bears bright red, firm-fleshed fruit with good flavour for fresh eating and canning, drying, or freezing. Ripens late July in Ontario. This variety is a genetic variant of the Van variety with a less-vigorous growth habit, hence the name “compact”. Typical mature height is 8-10 feet (2.5-3.0m).
