Silver Creek Nursery Ltd.

Potted Geneva 3 Hardy Kiwi (Female)

Available only for pick-up at nursery.

Species: Actinidia arguta

History: Geneva hardy kiwi was discovered growing in the Dr. Slate collection near the Cornell Experimental Station in Geneva, New York. It is named after the city of Geneva. A series of Geneva kiwis was bred and Geneva 3 was selected as the best-performing amongst all of them.

Why We Grow It: This variety produces medium-sized fruit with smooth skin so you can eat the whole kiwi! The delicious, honey-scented fruit can be enjoyed out of hand like grapes or made into preserves. You can also use it make a delicious and nutritious popsicle by pureeing it with some applesauce (or your favourite fruit) and a dab of honey, pouring it into molds, and freezing it. This vigorous vine can reach up for 40' long, so be prepared to prune, or trellis over 50lb of fruit per season.

Reminder: Potted plants are available for pick-up only!

Potted plants are only available for pick-up at the nursery. They unfortunately cannot be shipped due to the size and weight of the pots.

Most potted plants will fit in most vehicles easily. Trees in 16gal pots are quite large and heavy, we would recommend bringing a larger vehicle (van, SUV, pickup truck) and having someone around to help you unload the tree.

You are welcome to order potted plants ahead of time online or stop in at the nursery to purchase them! Our hours vary seasonally so we recommend checking our posted hours ahead of time (see the bottom of the webpage or our Google hours).

Potted plants vary in size and age, but we typically pot berries and smaller seedlings in 1-3 gal pots and larger grafted trees in 5-16 gal pots.

In general, most plants fall into the following size estimates (including the pot):

  • 1gal pots - 1-3ft tall
  • 2gal or 3g pots - 1.5-3ft tall
  • 5gal pots - 3-7ft tall
  • 8gal pots - 4-7ft tall
  • 16gal pots - 6-8ft tall
