Very traditional, one of the approved varieties by the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in the region of Normandy for use in cider and apple brandy, producing an aromatic bittersweet juice. It is precocious and a heavy cropper. Very resistant to canker. Often used as a pollinator in cider orchards due to long bloom period.
