Why We Grow It: Galaxy Gazing bulbs produce beautiful flower heads with thousands of little purple 'stars'. Bring the galaxy to your orchard or garden. Delivers uniform height and synchronized bloom time. Bulbs are a wonderful addition to orchards and permaculture gardens. They return year after year, add diversity and beauty to your landscape, provide flowers for pollinators. The bulbs help to deter deer, pests like voles, mice, and rabbits.

Soil Preferance: Alliums prefer fertile, well-drained soil. They are generally tolerant of most soil types except for heavy clay.

Flowering Time: Late Spring

Sun/Shade Requirements: Full sun (approx. 8-10 hours of sun daily)

Multiple species in the genus Allium (which also contains onion and garlic!) have been prized for their unique, spherical flower heads since ancient times. In the west, ornamental alliums (sometimes called ornamental onions) started to become popular in gardens during the 1800s.

Pick-up: We also have thousands of plants picked up from our nursery each year. The pick-up option is free, though you must wait until you have been emailed a confirmation that your order is ready to pick up, which will have further information such as hours, locations, etc.

When Will My Order Be Ready?

Fall: Bulbs are only available for fall planting and will be ready this autumn when the weather is suitable for planting them (Sept-Oct).

If you order bulbs and bareroot plants for shipping, we will ship the bulbs separately to you free of charge in the fall.

If you order bulbs and bareroot plants for pickup, the bulbs will need to be picked up in the autumn separate from any bareroot plants.
