Luna Apple Tree (Bareroot)

History: Luna (translated from Latin as "moon") comes from a cross between Golden Delicious and Topaz. It was bred in 1999 by Dr. Jaroslav Tupý at the Institute of Experimental Botany in Prague in the Czech Republic. The variety was likely selected for its excellent flavour, storage capabilities, and disease resistance. It was released in 2006.

Why We Grow It: Luna produces a medium to large yellow apple that bears a strong resemblance to its parent, Golden Delicious. Like Golden Delicious, it is a sweet fresh eating apple that is firm and crisp. It can last in storage for about six months and the flavour is said to be at its best after about three weeks in storage. Luna also boasts good disease resistance and tendency to start producing fruit at a young age.

Pick-up: We also have thousands of trees picked up from our nursery each year. The pick-up options is free, though you must wait until you have been emailed a confirmation that your order is ready to pick up, which will have further information such as hours, locations, etc.

We have simplified our crop inventory for grafted fruit trees into two sizes:

1m+ Grade: this often has some feathering, and is measured including the rootstock.

50-80cm Grade: this is like a 'b-grade' tree, sometimes with minor scaring or bent, these trees are priced accordingly.
