An excellent all-round choice, these compact, high-performance pruning shears / secateurs provide outstanding reach and cutting power.
The FELCO 6 combines exceptional ergonomics with a comfort in use which enables the highest cut quality every time, regardless of your hand size.
Every feature of the FELCO 6 contributes to their supreme comfort across the full range of pruning tasks. Pick them up and the compact, lightweight feel is combined the sturdy cutting power that comes from blades constructed from high quality hardened steel.
The one piece forged aluminum handle only adds to their intrinsic robust functionality. The angled cutting head creates a natural extension of the hand for even greater ergonomic comfort, while rubber shock absorbers deliver a soft closing action that protects the wrist against strain. The micro-metric setting mechanism allows for easy adjustment of the cutting head for that scalpel-like precision which exemplifies every FELCO pruning tool and makes them so indispensable.

The mold for these candles was made from a Bonne Louise de Jersey pear from one of Silver Creek Nursery's own trees! Each pear is rubbed with cinnamon to give a textured, realistic effect, and little leaf tags add the final touch.
Jodi has created several punny tags that you can add to your pear candle, listed below.
- "Pearfect together."
- "We make a great pear."
- "Have a pearfect day!"
Unlike the mild heat of Sweet Heat honey, this small batch of Hot Hot Heat honey is a spicy heat that hits harder for the folks who have asked for something spicier! My customers at markets have described it as starting out mild, but building to a strong heat. Keep in mind that their samples were given as a small amount on a toothpick, so a normal spoonful will have a significant spice level!
I dried and blended my own home-grown hot peppers with my raw honey. Peppers used include:
- two tiny Armageddon peppers (around 1.3 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU))
- lots of Lemon Drop peppers (15,000 - 30,000 SHU)
- lots of Sugar Rush Peach peppers (50,000 - 100,000 SHU)
- lots of Habanero peppers (150,000 - 325,000 SHU)
- some Hungarian Wax peppers (1,000 - 15,000 SHU)
- some Ancho (1,000 - 2,000 SHU)

Exploring the science of symbiotic fungi in layman’s terms, holistic farmer Michael Phillips (author of The Holistic Orchard and The Apple Grower) sets the stage for practical applications for working with mycorrhizal fungi across the landscape. The real impetus behind no-till farming, gardening with mulches, cover cropping, digging with broadforks, shallow cultivation, forest-edge orcharding, and everything related to permaculture is to help the plants and fungi to prosper . . . which means we prosper as well.
Building soil structure and fertility that lasts for ages results only once we comprehend the nondisturbance principle. As the author says, “What a grower understands, a grower will do.” Mycorrhizal Planet abounds with insights into “fungal consciousness” and offers practical, regenerative techniques that are pertinent to gardeners, landscapers, orchardists, foresters, and farmers. Michael’s fungal acumen will resonate with everyone who is fascinated with the unseen workings of nature and concerned about maintaining and restoring the health of our soils, our climate, and the quality of life on Earth for generations to come.
Author and plant specialist Eric Toensmeier (Edible Forest Gardens) introduces gardeners to a world of little-known and wholly underappreciated plants. Perennial vegetables are perfect as part of an edible landscape plan or permaculture garden.
Profiling more than 100 species, illustrated with dozens of color photographs and illustrations, and filled with valuable growing tips, recipes, and resources, Perennial Vegetables is a groundbreaking and ground-healing book that will open the eyes of gardeners everywhere to the exciting world of edible perennials.
World-renowned expert Martin Crawford covers both common fruit bushes and lesser-known edible shrubs. He takes us on a journey into the world of exotic spice trees, shrubs with medicinal parts, and nitrogen fixing plants. All these can be grown in temperate climates, allowing us to diversify our diets and design beautiful, productive gardens while showing us how we can integrate agroforestry into our smallholdings and farms to create new income streams.
Martin Crawford's expertise has been a great resource for us and much of the information he has collected over the years has helped us to understand our own plants better.
Break the fungal cycle in your orchard by using our Orchard Floor Digester Bundle (our Fungal Buster) in the Fall to stop the disease cycle by next Spring.
Fungal spores do not magically appear in the spring; they wake up from the dead, diseased leaves sitting on the ground directly beneath the tree. If those leaves decompose completely before spring, the disease is functionally eliminated.
In late October or November, after all the leaves have fallen, run over them with a lawnmower to shred them. Then, drench the shredded leaves and the soil beneath the canopy with this heavy biological digester spray.
The Fall Digester Mix (per 4 Liters / 1 Gallon of water):
- 60 ml (2 oz) EM-1 or TerraBiosa
- 60 ml (2 oz) Pacific Naturals Fish Hydrolysate
- 30 ml (1 oz) Blackstrap Molasses
When you spray this heavy dose of biology, fish, and sugars onto the fallen leaves, you incite a microbial feeding frenzy. The soil microbes use the nitrogen from the fish to rapidly devour the carbon-heavy leaf litter, converting the diseased tissue into rich, clean topsoil before the ground freezes hard. Come spring, there will be no scab spores left to infect your new buds.
We will send you our full 3-Step Regenerative Protocol & Spray Schedule for Apple Fungal Spotting when you order any of our Fungal Bundles.
History: Daffodil is the common name used to refer to various species in the genus Narcissus. Native to parts of Europe and northern Africa, these flowers have been celebrated for their beauty since antiquity. They feature in many works of art and literature, have been used in traditional medicine (although parts of the plant are toxic), and are celebrated as heralds of spring. Unsurprisingly, they are an extremely popular garden plant to this day!
Why We Grow It: Add some sunshine to your orchard or garden! This beautiful mix of daffodils are a great addition to your yard or orchard & will help to deter deer, moles, voles, rabbits etc. from your trees.
Last day to add bulbs to your Fall order: Monday, October 26th

Add some colour, biodiversity, and joy to your orchard this fall with Alliums and Daffodils from Silver Creek Nursery!
History: Papillon Blanc (translated from French as 'white butterfly') was created by plant breeder J.W.A. Lefeber in the Netherlands. It first flowered in 1940 and was introduced in 1960. Designated a classic by the American Daffodil Society, this variety remains popular for its pure white perianth and pale yellow cup.
Why We Grow It: 'White Butterflies' in your garden? Add these beautiful white Narcissus Split Cup - Papillon Blanc Daffodils and you will have added some old fashioned charm anywhere you plant them!
Bulbs are a wonderful addition to orchards and permaculture gardens. They return year after year, add diversity and beauty to your landscape, provide flowers for pollinators. The bulbs help to deter deer, pests like voles, mice and rabbits.
History: Multiple species in the genus Allium (which also contains onion and garlic!) have been prized for their unique, spherical flower heads since ancient times. In the west, ornamental alliums (sometimes called ornamental onions) started to become popular in gardens during the 1800s.
Why We Grow It: Galaxy Gazing bulbs produce beautiful flower heads with thousands of little purple 'stars'. Bring the galaxy to your orchard or garden. Delivers uniform height and synchronized bloom time

Species: Ribes aureum
History: Golden Currants (aka Clove Currants) are native to Canada and the central US. They are a source of nectar for many pollinators including butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds and the berries are a food source for various bird species. Indigenous peoples traditionally harvest the berries and use parts of the plant medicinally. Golden Currants are also used as landscape/ornamental plants, particularly in native plant gardens.
Why We Grow It: Golden Currants are an excellent plant for those looking to add more native plants to their collection. This hardy and adaptable shrub produces numerous yellow blooms that smell similar to cloves (hence the other common name) and attract many pollinators including hummingbirds. Later in the summer, the small, dark berries can be harvested from the bush for use in jams, preserves, and baking or can be left to feed the birds.
Species: Aesculus glabra
History: Ohio Buckeye is native to Walpole Island in Ontario and some central and southern states in the United States. The Shawnee name for the tree is 'hetuck' which means 'eye of the buck' due to the nut's resemblance to a deer's eye. Indigenous peoples such as the Lenape traditionally use the nuts for medicinal uses, tanning leather, and jewellery. Ohio Buckeye is the state tree of Ohio and people from Ohio and graduates of Ohio State University are sometimes called 'buckeyes'. Unsurprisingly, the nuts have an important cultural place in Ohio. There is a candy resembling the nuts called 'buckeyes' that are popular and the nuts make numerous appearances in Calvin and Hobbes whose author is from Ohio. Its wood is too soft to be used for much and it has limited uses as a street tree since it is considered messy due to the nuts it drops.
Why We Grow It: Ohio Buckeye is an attractive ornamental tree with its large, palmate leaves and notable yellow flowers in spring. Although the tree is toxic and generally not fed on by wildlife, the large flowers are very attractive to a variety of pollinators including hummingbirds!
History: Luna (translated from Latin as "moon") comes from a cross between Golden Delicious and Topaz. It was bred in 1999 by Dr. Jaroslav Tupý at the Institute of Experimental Botany in Prague in the Czech Republic. The variety was likely selected for its excellent flavour, storage capabilities, and disease resistance. It was released in 2006.
Why We Grow It: Luna produces a medium to large yellow apple that bears a strong resemblance to its parent, Golden Delicious. Like Golden Delicious, it is a sweet fresh eating apple that is firm and crisp. It can last in storage for about six months and the flavour is said to be at its best after about three weeks in storage. Luna also boasts good disease resistance and tendency to start producing fruit at a young age.
History: Spigold (aka Spy Gold) was developed at the New York Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, New York and released in 1962. It is a cross between Red Spy and Golden Delicious that has remained somewhat popular in North America.
Why We Grow It: Spigold marries the best qualities of Golden Delicious and Red Spy. It produces very large apples that are crisp and juicy with a honeyed sweet/tart flavour. These large apples are excellent for fresh eating, making applesauce, baking into pies, and making into cider. They also store quite well and some say the flavour actually improves in storage.

If you're like me, you have various sizes of cast iron skillets in your kitchen... so; here are the two handle cover sizes that work well for me and are available, ready to ship!
The smaller handle cover shown is made specifically for mini skillets. This is a new product I'm offering because it's nice to have a handle cover that isn't so big and gawky on those little pans! For reference, my mini skillet (shown) measures about 6 inches across the pan. Approximate max handle size that will fit is about 1 3/4" wide x 3 1/2" long.
The larger handle cover is shown on my 10-inch skillet. There is ample width to slip over thicker handles if necessary. Approximate usable space inside this larger handle cover is about 2 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" long.
Made with InsulBright thermal batting. Not microwave or oven safe. Not flameproof but can be safely left on the handle while cooking on a stove top. They will shrink slightly on the first laundering, as the fabrics have never been washed, and then they will relax a bit with use.
This is a wonderful idea for a small kitchen gift, stocking stuffer, hostess gift, etc.
